The first element of Southern Idaho Sailing Outreach’s mission statement is fund raising. This is necessary to complete the remaining elements of our mission:
⦁ Developing a non-motorized dock addition at Spring Shores Marina (Complete 2019)
⦁ Purchasing a fleet of sailboats for instructional use
⦁ Certifying sailing instructors
⦁ Providing opportunities to learn to sail.
This is also why we are registering as a 501 (c) (3) corporation with the IRS (final determination letter is pending).
Our first fund raising effort was a big success. In 2017, we authored a grant application to Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, through their Waterway Improvement Fund, to begin the dock improvement process at Spring Shores. We were successful – the grant was approved and awarded through Ada County Waterways, and Phase 1 of the dock expansion process was installed in the Spring of 2018. This was followed a year later with another successful grant to complete the dock purchase and installation. To date we have raised more than $120,000 in grants and matching funds. The dock expansion project is now fully funded and will be completed in the Spring of 2019.
Moving forward, our next goal is to certify sailing instructors in coordination with City of Boise Parks and Recreation Department, and begin the purchase of a fleet of sailboats to use for instruction.
We have assisted the City of Boise with securing financial support for the instructor certification effort. The purchase of an instructional sailboat fleet will require significant funding, and we are actively pursuing several fund raising campaigns.
If you or your company would like to join us in our fund raising activities and help support the goal of teaching sailing in Southern Idaho, please contact us at email@example.com
More information will be forthcoming as we roll out our next fund raising campaign.
